Doko Rib Fest Set for Saturday, March 14, 2020


Doko Rib Fest



The Greater Blythewood Chamber of Commerce has announced that it will present its first annual Doko Rib Fest Cook Off in Doko Meadows Park on March 14, 2020. The cook off will consist of three competitive divisions with professional, amateur and veteran cook teams competing for trophies and prize money totaling $5,250. The Cook Off will commence at 6:00 a.m. on the day of the competition with a standard portion of ribs being passed out to contestants in the Farmer's Market field and teams will have until 1:00 p.m. to prepare their offerings. Judging by officials from the Southern Barbecue Network will commence at 1:00 p.m. with winners to be announced at 4:30 p.m. Individuals wishing to enjoy a personal sampling from teams competing in the challenge may do so with the purchase of a $20 wristband. A full rack of ribs may also be purchased for $20 with plates consisting of 3 ribs, coleslaw, and barbecue beans available for $10.

Music in the Palmetto Citizens Amphitheater is scheduled to begin at noon with Commontime Bluegrass Band, Blues Deluxe, Phil Mack Band, Stampede, and Ramblin Road performing. Food trucks, specialty food and sweets vendors, as well as activity vendors will also be on hand throughout the day.
